Read what Tim Fish of the Wine Spectator has to say

Gold Medal:  North of the Gate Wine Competition

see Julie Pedroncelli St. John give the history of Mother Clone

Old vines on new roots. "Mother Clone" refers to the original Zinfandel vines planted on the property when John Pedroncelli, Sr., purchased the ranch and winery in 1927. Those vines were planted some time around the turn of the twentieth century.  We have since propogated our Zinfandel with cuttings from those vines.  Our Zinfandel vineyards, like the family operating the winery, are now in their third generation.
