... Vino in My Dino

Vino in my Dino

Julie 3-31-15The name Vino in my Dino comes from my earliest memory of wine at our dining room table when I was 4 years old. I had my Flintstones tableware along with my Dino cup-my parents would pour a tiny bit of Zinfandel and then add water. I asked them why they put water in my vino-it just didn’t taste good. I have been passionate about wine ever since.

I am a third generation family member/owner of Pedroncelli Winery and the office I inhabit is my childhood bedroom. I have the good fortune to look out on the same vineyard view as I have for some five decades. And I never tire of what I see. My husband Ed calls this Pedroncelli World Headquarters. I call it home. Growing up at the winery gave me life experiences I still appreciate. Agriculture, sales, marketing, weather, climate, land purchases, sunsets (a family favorite) and Sunday dinners.

I hope you’ll stop by often and appreciate my view of the wine world and together we’ll sip some Vino in my Dino.

Vineyard View: Atmospheric River

Earlier this week I was looking out my office window wondering if the rain would ever end. It was difficult to see beyond a few hundred feet the visibility was so poor during the deluge that particular Tuesday afternoon. You might say I couldn't see the vines for the sheets of rain coming down.

3 Views of 90

We are looking forward to turning 90 as a four generation family owned and operated winery this year. The official ‘90’ mark is July 22, the anniversary of my grandfather Giovanni Pedroncelli signing the papers. It is a good time to look both to the past, the present and the future so the next three posts reflect each period.

Where were you in '76?

Saying goodbye to someone who has worked at the winery since 1976 is a challenge to say the least. My mom calls her my dad’s ‘office wife’ and for sure it will be a difficult transition for all of us-40 years, 7 months and 26 days later Kathy is retiring on Friday December 30.

Wine + Food

Wine plus food plus whoever is at the table equals an experience heightened by the holidays. Whatever your celebratory mood it is easy to go through the holidays thinking up great combinations of what goes great with wine-whether it is Champagne, red, white or rosé.

Vineyard View: Winter Begins

Our weather this month has been very cold and wintry. The vines have all entered dormancy, preparing for their long winter’s rest. We received a good amount of rain over the previous weeks with 5 inches total so far and more is on the way this weekend.
